The vivo Y19s quietly debuted today as a follow-up to last year’s Y17s, not a sequel to the 2019 Y19. This new model features a rugged design, impressive stereo speakers, and a robust 5,500mAh battery.
The Y19s has grown slightly, featuring a 6.68” LCD with a smooth 90Hz refresh rate. It’s quite bright too, reaching up to 1,000 nits in high brightness mode, though it still only offers HD+ resolution. The selfie camera now features a punch-hole design but has a lower resolution of just 5MP.
The rear camera setup remains largely unchanged, featuring a 50MP main sensor along with a secondary helper camera. However, the standout new feature is the eye-catching RGB LED ring around the camera island. It’s hard to miss, especially when it cycles through a rainbow of colors. This LED ring can be used for notifications or to add a fun touch while you’re enjoying your favorite tunes.
The vivo Y19s features stereo speakers that can reach an impressive 300% volume in noisy environments, adding a fun twist. It also includes a 3.5mm headphone jack at the bottom, right next to the USB-C 2.0 port, a nice touch for wired headphone enthusiasts!
The vivo Y19s boasts a drop-resistant design with an IP64 rating for dust and basic water resistance, plus it meets MIL-STD-810H standards for durability. Its battery is equally tough, retaining at least 80% of its capacity after 1,460 charge cycles—equivalent to daily charging for four years!
Speaking of the battery, it boasts a generous 5,500mAh capacity, which is quite impressive for a phone of this size. Official specs suggest the vivo Y19s offers about 8 hours of PUBG gaming or nearly 20 hours of YouTube watching. It charges at a modest 15W, so patience is required. Note that while the retail package includes a charger, this doesn’t apply to units sold in the Philippines and Thailand.
While the vivo Y19s offers some solid features, it doesn’t really cater to hardcore gaming. It packs the Unisoc T612 chipset, built on a 12nm process, and includes two Cortex-A75 cores alongside six Cortex-A55 cores, all clocked at 1.8GHz. A Mali-G57 GPU handles the graphics. You’ll find 6GB of LPDDR4X RAM paired with 128GB of eMMC 5.1 storage, which should be sufficient for everyday tasks.
One nice perk is the card tray, which can hold two nano-SIM cards and a microSD card for expandable storage. The phone runs on FuntouchOS 14 based on Android 14, but keep in mind that the T612 is a 4G chipset, so it doesn’t support the latest generation of connectivity.
The vivo Y19s isn’t available in stores just yet, so there’s no pricing information available. However, it’s safe to say that it’s likely not going to break the bank.
