As a leading smartphone brand globally, Xiaomi has used chipsets from Qualcomm, MediaTek, and Unisoc in its devices. Earlier this year, reports indicated that Xiaomi and Unisoc are collaborating on a 4nm chipset. Now, it looks like the first Xiaomi-branded chipset from this partnership could debut in early 2025.
Reliable tipster Yogesh Brar says the company will launch its new in-house chipset, developed with Unisoc, in early 2025. The chip will use TSMC’s 4nm N4P node and include a 5G modem from Unisoc, delivering performance comparable to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1.
While Xiaomi has previously ventured into chipset development with the Surge S1 in 2017, this new SoC marks a significant leap forward. The Surge S1, found in the Mi 5c, was a midrange chip with 8 Cortex A53 cores and a Mali-T860 GPU, manufactured on a 28nm process.
