We’ve seen some impressive benchmarks from the upcoming Snapdragon 8 Gen 4, but most of the focus has been on the CPU. However, the new Adreno 830 GPU might be an even bigger upgrade. According to a Weibo user, it’s showing a 43% to 56% improvement over the 8 Gen 3.
The GPU reportedly runs at 1.15GHz, though earlier reports from Ice Universe mentioned tests at 1.25GHz. Keep in mind, these numbers come from a Qualcomm Reference Device (QRD), which uses early chip versions that often have lower clock speeds than retail units, so the higher 1.25GHz could still happen.
In GFX Bench’s Aztec Ruins High test, the 8 Gen 4 scored 125fps, compared to 96fps for the Adreno 750 in the 8 Gen 3. Other results include 166fps in 3DMark’s Wildlife offscreen test and 44fps in Wildlife Extreme Unlimited.
Xiaomi plans to launch the first phones with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 in the 15 and 15 Pro, followed by the OnePlus 13 and iQOO 13. Benchmarks for the Galaxy S25 Ultra have also appeared, though questions remain about whether this year will see higher-clocked “for Galaxy” versions of the chip.
In some tests, the two prime CPU cores of the Galaxy S25 Ultra clocked in at 4.2GHz, with variations ranging from 4.1GHz to 4.32GHz. So, the final clock speed is still up in the air. Last year, there were rumors that Qualcomm might dually source the 8 Gen 4 chips, but lately, all signs point to 3nm chips exclusively from TSMC.
The Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 is expected to launch next month, and the first phones using it should follow shortly—OnePlus has confirmed an October launch for the OnePlus 13, while Xiaomi’s devices could arrive even sooner.
