Samsung recently unveiled the Galaxy A16 (4G), following the launch of its 5G counterpart just a couple of weeks ago. Initially, there was no mention of a 4G version, but Samsung France has now confirmed its arrival, referring to both models as “smartphones that stand the test of time.”
This impressive claim is based on the fact that both devices will receive six years of support, including OS updates and security patches.
The Galaxy A16 (4G) closely resembles the A16 5G, featuring a 6.7” FHD+ OLED display with a smooth 90Hz refresh rate, a robust 5,000mAh battery with 25W charging, and a versatile camera setup with a 50+5+2MP rear and 13MP front cameras.
All of this is packed into a slim 7.9mm body with an IP54 dust and water resistance rating—a first for this category. In contrast, the previous A15 models were 8.4mm thick and didn’t have an official IP rating, making the A16 a more durable option.
The Samsung Galaxy A16 4G uses the same MediaTek Helio G99 chipset as the A15 4G, along with 4GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, plus a microSD slot for cards up to 1TB. However, there’s no mention of a 3.5mm headphone jack, so it seems that feature won’t be making a return.
Interestingly, the press release doesn’t include any details about pricing. Based on the previous A15 and A15 5G models, we expect the 4G version to cost around €50 less.
The Samsung Galaxy A16 4G will launch in November in France, with plans for a broader release across Europe. It will be available in three colors: Gray, Green, and Blue.
