HP is acquiring Humane for $116 million, a deal that includes Humane’s CosmOS AI platform, its technical staff, and access to over 300 patents and patent applications. A major outcome of this acquisition is the discontinuation of Humane’s AI Pin, which will cease functioning next week. This marks the end of the AI Pin’s service, which had offered users innovative wearable technology powered by CosmOS.

According to an official support page, the AI Pins will lose connectivity to Humane’s servers after 12 PM PST on Friday, February 28. This shutdown will result in the loss of key features, including calling, messaging, AI queries and responses, as well as cloud access. Users are urged to back up any important data stored on the device or the .Center platform before the shutdown, as Humane will permanently delete all data from its servers after February 28.
In addition, Humane’s subscription service, which provided data coverage via T-Mobile, will automatically cancel after February 28. However, customers who purchased the AI Pin within the last 90 days will be eligible for a refund, provided they file their request by February 27.
HP has confirmed its plans to integrate Humane’s CosmOS platform into its existing range of devices, such as PCs, printers, and connected conference rooms. This acquisition aligns with HP’s goal to enhance its AI capabilities and expand into new technological areas. Humane’s engineers, architects, and product innovators will also join HP’s AI innovation lab, contributing their expertise to future AI-driven projects and services. This strategic move marks a new chapter for both companies as they work together to advance the field of artificial intelligence and expand its presence across various consumer and business products.
