Since its introduction in mid-December, Gemini Advanced subscribers can now enjoy the 2.0 Experimental Advanced features on the Gemini app, available for both Android and iOS users. This update brings exciting new capabilities for those who have access to the advanced tier, enhancing their experience on both platforms.
While Gemini 2.0 Flash Experimental has been available to all users since last month, Google has now introduced the 2.0 Experimental Advanced version to the Gemini app. Previously, it was only accessible through the desktop or mobile website. The new Gemini-Exp-1206 update brings “significantly improved performance on complex tasks like coding, math, reasoning, and following instructions.” However, it doesn’t have access to real-time information or some other Gemini features, such as file uploads.
The model, still holding the top spot on the Chatbot Arena LLM Leaderboard, is perfect for tackling complex coding challenges, solving math problems for both school and personal projects, or providing detailed, multi-step instructions to help craft a customized business plan.
To access it, tap the model switcher at the top of your screen. You’ll find 2.0 Experimental Advanced alongside 1.5 Flash, 1.5 Pro, and 2.0 Flash Experimental. If you don’t see it yet on Android, try force stopping the Gemini or Google app. Meanwhile, Google rolled out an update to the Gemini app for iOS today, following a bigger upgrade last month.
Gemini Advanced requires a Google One AI Premium subscription, priced at $19.99 per month.
It’s still unclear what model Gemini-Exp-1206 will ultimately launch as—it could be Gemini 2.0 Pro or another model beyond 2.0 Flash.
