Roblox just celebrated 20 years of platform innovation — and it did so with one of the biggest sets of announcements in the company’s history. At its 12th annual Roblox Developers Conference (RDC), held in San Mateo, California, Roblox Corporation (NYSE: RBLX) unveiled a sweeping wave of updates spanning three core pillars: Play, Build, and Grow. From standalone game apps to an AI-powered game creation tool and a brand-new financial account for creators, Roblox RDC 2026 signals a major new chapter for the platform and its global community of developers, artists, designers, brands, and influencers.

According to Statista’s gaming market report, user-generated content platforms like Roblox are among the fastest-growing segments of the global gaming industry — making these creator-focused updates especially significant for the platform’s long-term growth.

Play: Roblox Is Coming to Every Screen

The biggest news for players at RDC 2026 is how Roblox is expanding where and how people can play. Together, these updates make Roblox more accessible than ever before — removing friction for both new and existing players.

Standalone Apps are coming soon, allowing creators to launch their Roblox games as independent apps across mobile, PC, and consoles. This means a Roblox game could appear directly on the App Store or Google Play as its own standalone title — a major shift in how Roblox experiences reach players outside the main platform.

In-Browser Play via Chrome is arriving by year-end, with no installation required. Players can launch directly from a game’s Experience Details Page — making it easier than ever to jump into a Roblox experience on any device.

Offline Mode is also on the way, enabling single-player and offline sessions that can be combined with online modes within the same game. Furthermore, new game formats are expanding engine support for 2D and puzzle games through orthographic camera support and sprite-sheet import — alongside new UI features and a notification system for async multiplayer.

A new Friends chat tab that follows players across games and voice typing support round out the Play updates, keeping social connections front and center no matter which game players are in.

Build: AI-Powered Game Creation for Everyone

Roblox’s Build tool — its prompt-to-game AI creation feature — is expanding to public alpha in Singapore and Serbia, following its initial New Zealand alpha. Since launch, creators have published roughly 9,000 games using Build, with a remarkable 71% coming from first-time Roblox Studio users. That statistic alone underscores how dramatically AI-assisted creation is lowering the barrier to entry for aspiring game developers.

Moreover, a Scene Generator — prompt-to-scene functionality — is arriving later this year in both Build and Studio, allowing creators to generate full game environments from text prompts. As TechRadar’s coverage of AI in gaminghighlights, AI-assisted game creation tools are rapidly reshaping how independent developers build games — and Roblox’s Build tool is one of the most accessible versions of this technology available today.

Expanded NPC capabilities are also coming by year-end, including NPCs that can actively playtest games — giving creators an AI-driven testing partner that simulates real player behavior.

Grow: A New Financial Future for Roblox Creators

Perhaps the most significant announcement at RDC 2026 for creators is the Roblox Wallet — a dedicated financial account that allows creators to earn in real currency, get paid daily, and move funds flexibly. The Wallet rolls out later this year to eligible U.S. creators aged 18 and above, with global expansion planned for next year.

A connected Roblox Card is also coming next year, giving creators a physical payment method tied directly to their Wallet earnings. According to Forbes’ coverage of the creator economy, faster and more flexible creator payouts are one of the most requested improvements across major content platforms — making the Roblox Wallet a meaningful step forward for the platform’s creator economy.

Additionally, the Moments tab — a watch-to-play gameplay video feature — is now fully available in the U.S., with more features coming. An updated Discovery Ranking system now optimizes for both younger and older player engagement patterns, improving how games surface to the right audiences.

Roblox 20th Anniversary Celebrations

RDC 2026 also kicked off a series of major 20th anniversary events for the platform:

Dream Racers launched on August 27 — an AI-built racing game by developer Studsy, showcasing Roblox’s 4D “Cube” technology.

The Roblox Fall Games Preview on September 2 offered an early look at 10 standout games coming to Roblox this fall, spanning tactical shooters, horror, racing, RPGs, and cozy sims — all from creators across the Jumpstart and Incubator programs.

On September 8, Roblox 20th Classic Mode launched, letting players opt into a limited-time anniversary theme that brings the classic Roblox logo, colors, and font back to the app. Special 20th anniversary UGC items are also available to collect.

The 2026 Roblox Innovation Awards (RIAs) on September 12 celebrated the developers and studios that pushed what’s possible on the platform this year. Winners include Best Shooter — RIVALS by Nosniy Games, Best Studio — Nosniy Games, and the People’s Choice and Builderman Award winner — Animal Hospital.

Finally, The Hunt: Roblox 20 kicks off September 17 and runs through September 28. Themed “The Classic Meets Mega Hunt,” the event features a Hub where players unlock all 20 years of Roblox history in chronological order, with portals leading to the top-visited game from each year — each rewarding players with a themed UGC item.

What RDC 2026 Means for Filipino Roblox Players and Creators

For Filipino Roblox players and aspiring game developers, these updates open significant new possibilities. In-browser play removes device limitations for players without high-spec hardware. The Build AI tool makes game creation accessible without coding experience. Furthermore, as the Roblox Wallet expands globally next year, Filipino creators will gain access to faster, more flexible real-currency payouts — a meaningful step toward making Roblox game development a more viable creative career path in the Philippines.
