Move over, Exynos. Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy S25 will reportedly ditch in-house chips for a consistent Snapdragon experience worldwide.
According to Hankyung, all Galaxy S25 models—vanilla, S25+, and S25 Ultra—will use the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 SoC, no matter where you are. Samsung had initially planned to use the Exynos 2500 for the vanilla and Plus models, but it seems they’ve changed their mind.
This is a big shift from Samsung’s usual practice of using different chipsets in different regions. Despite improvements in recent years, Samsung’s Exynos chips have often lagged behind Qualcomm’s Snapdragon processors in performance and efficiency.
For example, the Galaxy S24 showed a noticeable performance edge for Snapdragon models in benchmarks and everyday use. Interestingly, the same report suggests that Samsung plans to use the Exynos 2500 in the Galaxy Z Flip 7 and Fold 7 later in 2025.
