Looks like the nubia Flip claimed the title of the world’s cheapest foldable smartphone back in February, starting at just $499. But its reign seems short-lived as Blackview plans to launch the Hero 10 in May at an even lower price of €399, roughly $425. While regional pricing may vary, it’s evident that the Hero 10 will undercut the nubia Flip, offering a similar flip-style foldable experience.
Finally, affordable foldables are becoming a reality, although at this price point, don’t expect flagship specs. Nevertheless, the compromises seem manageable.
Blackview Hero 10 Specifications
The Blackview Hero 10 boasts a 6.9-inch main flexible AMOLED display with 1080×2560 resolution and a 60 Hz refresh rate, a conscious decision to keep costs down. Unfolded, it’s a sleek 8.8mm thin and weighs 198g.
Its main rear camera boasts an impressive 108 MP resolution, alongside an 8 MP ultrawide lens, and a 32 MP selfie shooter. Powered by MediaTek’s Helio G99 SoC, it’s limited to 4G networks, with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage.
However, it’s worth noting that the Hero 10 will ship with Android 13, which may disappoint some users in mid-2024, especially with Android 14 already out. Still, it offers 45W fast wired charging, though Blackview has kept the battery capacity under wraps.
For a bit more cash, the nubia Flip offers a higher 120 Hz refresh rate, the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 SoC with 5G support, albeit with lower camera resolution and half the RAM and storage. The choice between them ultimately comes down to your personal preferences in specs. And interestingly, both devices run Android 13, so that’s not a deciding factor.
