Two new capabilities have been introduced by Samsung for its Expert RAW camera software and will be made accessible to customers with the upcoming update.
The Custom Preset function comes first, allowing users to save their unique camera settings and reuse them while taking new photographs. The Store Format menu, which may be accessed second, enables users to save images taken with the Expert RAW camera software in either RAW or JPEG format. The software currently stores the photographs in both file formats, which can be a hassle.
Along with revealing additional capabilities, Samsung also disclosed a postponement in the availability of Expert RAW for the Galaxy S20 Ultra, Galaxy Note20 Ultra, and Galaxy Z Fold2.
Since it requires one complete camera system update, the timeline has been modified for these smartphones’ Expert RAW capability, which was originally scheduled for H1 2022. But by September, Samsung hopes to make Expert RAW available for these gadgets.
Although Samsung hasn’t given a specific release date for Expert RAW for the S20 Ultra, Note20 Ultra, and Fold2, the firm did say that the software will only support the wide and ultrawide lenses on the S20 Ultra and not the telephoto lens.
Samsung claims that’s because the Hybrid Optic 10x telephoto lens on the Galaxy S20 Ultra couldn’t output the images in Bayer RAW, which is the basis for Expert RAW’s Computational RAW.
