The Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 SoC leaked earlier today, and now Qualcomm has officially confirmed its release. This 4nm chip is positioned just below the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 in Qualcomm’s lineup, with the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 remaining the top performer in the series.
Qualcomm promises the Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 will enhance AI experiences in more affordable smartphones. Samsung, Realme, and Sharp will launch devices with it soon, but Xiaomi aims to debut it first with a September release.
The Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 brings a noticeable boost over its predecessor, offering 20% better CPU performance, a 40% faster GPU, 30% improved AI capabilities, and 12% overall power savings. Even more impressive is the 45% power savings on the CPU alone. The Kryo CPU setup includes one Prime core running at up to 2.5 GHz, three Performance cores at up to 2.4 GHz, and four Efficiency cores at up to 1.8 GHz. It also supports up to 16GB of RAM and UFS 3.1 storage.
The chip features on-device generative AI capabilities, powered by its AI Engine with a dedicated NPU. It can handle AI-driven noise cancellation and reduction, capture photos up to 200 MP, and record 4K HDR video. The Spectra Triple ISP allows for simultaneous photo and video capture, ensuring ultra-fast processing and smooth zooming.
The Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 supports displays with resolutions up to FHD+ and refresh rates up to 144 Hz. For gaming, it features Adaptive Performance Engine 3.0, Variable Rate Shading, Adreno HDR Fast Blend, and Vulkan 1.3 support.
The chip supports 5G mmWave and Sub-6 (SA and NSA), Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.4, and global positioning systems including GPS, Glonass, BeiDou, Galileo, QZSS, and NavIC.
