The World Marathon Challenge, a grueling event where participants run seven marathons on seven continents in seven days, tested Mench’s physical and mental limits. She completed races in Antarctica, Africa, Australia, Asia, Europe, South America, and North America, overcoming extreme weather, jet lag, and limited recovery. Mench crossed the final finish line in Miami on February 6, 2025, achieving a feat few have managed.
A dedicated marathoner since 2008, Mench Dizon also earned the prestigious Six-Star Medal in 2017 by completing the Abbott World Marathon Majors (Tokyo, Boston, London, Berlin, Chicago, and New York City), cementing her place among elite marathoners worldwide.
Her recent milestone makes Mench the first Filipina to complete both the World Marathon Challenge and the World Marathon Majors. She joins Dr. Potenciano “Yong” Larrazabal III as the second Filipino to achieve this feat. Filipino-American Julie Uychiat also holds this distinction as the first Fil-Am Filipina.
“For me, running is about more than just physical endurance. It’s a way to push our limits and use our passions for greater purposes,” said Mench, who raised PHP 7 million for a new digital education center at Sisters of Mary School, benefiting underprivileged students across the Philippines.
As Country Head of Yield Guild Games (YGG) Pilipinas, Mench is a leader in the Metaverse Filipino Worker (MFW) movement, advocating for digital education and upskilling to empower Filipinos for global opportunities. With her accomplishments, Mench’s story embodies the relentless drive of Filipinos forging new paths in the world.
