Meizu, once primarily known for its smartphones, shifted its focus to electric vehicles in recent years. However, the company’s smartphone division has now been acquired by Dreamsmart Group, marking its return to the global smartphone market.

In an exclusive interview, Mr. Gu Binbin, Executive Director of Dreamsmart Group and Head of Overseas Operations, revealed that Meizu successfully entered 30 international markets within its first year back on the global stage. This achievement underscores Meizu’s determination to re-establish itself as a key player in the competitive smartphone industry.
Dreamsmart Group has made significant investments in the development, production, and distribution of Meizu smartphones. Looking ahead, the company plans to expand Meizu’s presence in Southeast Asia, followed by further growth in Central and Eastern Europe and Latin America. The aim is to build a strong market presence by offering smartphones that cater to a wide range of consumer needs in these regions.
A key strategy for Meizu’s expansion is its partnership with automaker Geely. In certain markets, both smartphones and vehicles are being marketed together, creating opportunities for joint promotions and cross-marketing initiatives. Initially, Meizu smartphones will be sold online in new markets, with the company also working to establish partnerships with physical retailers to further strengthen its market presence.
In China, Meizu has traditionally offered smartphones across a wide price range, from $100 to $700. While this pricing approach isn’t fully mirrored internationally, Mr. Gu emphasized that the company’s current focus for overseas markets is on midrange devices, with plans to expand the product range in the future.
At MWC 2025, the Meizu 22 was spotted, with an official launch expected in April.
