The MediaTek Dimensity 9400 chipset is rumored to deliver significantly better performance than its predecessor. A recent leak suggests that this new flagship chip will boast a 30% increase in single-core CPU performance compared to the Dimensity 9300. Additionally, the chipset is expected to be much more power-efficient, using less energy for complex tasks. Another report hinted at a 40% improvement in the neural processing unit (NPU) performance. The MediaTek Dimensity 9400 chip is anticipated to launch by the end of the year.
In a Weibo post, tipster Digital Chat Station revealed that MediaTek is planning significant upgrades for the CPU performance of the Dimensity 9400. He mentioned (translated from Chinese), “I heard from a friend that the single-core performance of the Dimensity 9400 CPU has increased by more than 30% compared to the previous generation. In internal tests, the large core only needs 30% of the power consumption of the 8G3 in the same scenario.”
The tipster also noted that the chipset’s energy efficiency has improved, requiring just 30% of the power used by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 to complete similar tasks.
A previous report suggested that the dedicated NPU on the chipset might see a 40% performance boost. However, these significant upgrades could drive up production costs for the Dimensity 9400 SoC, potentially making smartphones equipped with this chipset more expensive as brands may pass the increased costs to consumers.
The report suggests the Vivo X200 and Oppo Find X8 might be the first to feature the MediaTek Dimensity 9400 processor. However, this hasn’t been confirmed by the company, so take it with a grain of salt. We’ll know more once it’s officially announced later this year.
