A fresh leak from FPT.’s latest YouTube video reveals a major overhaul for the iOS 19 Camera app, hinting at a big shift for the OS. The app is getting a cleaner, distraction-free viewfinder, plus a cool new feature: settings like resolution and frame rate control during video recording will now be integrated directly into the app—something Android has had for a while. Still, iOS users can finally expect it in iOS 19.
“The video doesn’t reveal the redesign to protect FPT.’s Apple sources, but it gives us a close look at what the new Camera app could look like. The focus shifts to a more streamlined viewfinder with fewer distractions, while the settings and camera modes condense. The animations are smoother, and you’ll need to swipe to access the different options.”
In some ways, it feels like the iOS Camera app is catching up with Android, especially with the new ability to change resolution and frame rate right within the app, rather than digging into the general Settings menu.
But the leak hints there’s more going on than just a redesign. The aesthetic and the way you interact with the Camera app are starting to look a lot like visionOS, suggesting a full, system-wide overhaul could be coming with iOS 19. It’s not hard to believe, considering the last major iOS redesign was all the way back with iOS 7.
On the flip side, we might see a gradual move toward visionOS aesthetics, starting with some subtle redesigns of core iOS apps before spreading to the system itself. It’s still a bit too early to say for sure, and since iOS 19 is still about 9 months away for most users, a lot could change by then.
