Apple will likely launch the official versions of iOS 18.2 and iPadOS 18.2 in early December. In the meantime, they’ve just rolled out the first public beta for both. If you’re interested, join the Apple Beta Program and try the iOS 18.2 beta on your iPhone or iPad—but remember, early versions often have bugs.

This update brings more Apple Intelligence features, including a new app called Image Playground, which lets you generate images from text prompts. You’ll also find this tool integrated into Messages, Notes, and Freeform.

The update also introduces Genmoji—short for “generative emoji.” You can create these AI-generated emojis based on text prompts, and they can even use images of you, your friends, or family for a personal touch.

Siri now includes ChatGPT integration. If Siri can’t answer your question, it will ask if you’d like ChatGPT to take over—no ChatGPT account needed.

For iPhone 16 users, there’s Visual Intelligence, which provides information about the surroundings simply by pointing the camera. It can read text out loud, detect phone numbers and addresses for easy contact saving, copy text, and even summarize content.

Plus, Apple Intelligence now supports localized English for users in Australia, Canada, New Zealand, South Africa, Ireland, and the UK. Note that access to features like Genmoji, Image Playground, and Image Wand (for turning sketches into images) is currently on a waitlist.
