HMD Fusion is officially here, featuring a unique modular smartphone design with what the brand calls Fusion outfits.
Fusion outfits are interchangeable covers that add features like wireless charging, extra protection, or even a ring light. They attach to the phone using Smart Pins on the back.
HMD also offers the chance for users to 3D print their own designs with the open-source HMD Fusion Development Toolkit. First-party Fusion outfits will be available later this year.
The smartphone features a semi-transparent plastic shell, similar to the HMD Skyline, making repairs easier by giving users straightforward access to the battery, screen, and other key components.
The phone features a 6.56-inch HD+ IPS LCD with a 90Hz refresh rate, powered by a Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 processor. It offers up to 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage.
For cameras, it has a 108-megapixel main sensor with EIS, night mode, RAW processing, and AI HDR, along with a 2-megapixel depth sensor. The 50-megapixel front camera ensures sharp selfies.
Running Android 14, the phone will receive two years of OS upgrades and three years of security patches. It also includes a 5,000mAh battery with 33W wired charging via USB Type-C.
The HMD Fusion will start at EUR 249 (about PHP 15.5K) and will launch in Europe before making its way to the US. We’ll keep you updated if the device is set to arrive in the Philippines.
