Samsung’s Galaxy S25 announcement highlights One UI 7, new AI features, and the Personal Data Engine. These software enhancements play a key role in the overall user experience. Software is a key highlight, making up over 50% of the value in the Galaxy S25 and S25+.
The devices also feature new hardware, including the custom Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy chipset. It promises a 37% increase in CPU performance, 30% more GPU power, and a 40% faster NPU.
The Samsung Galaxy S25 comes with 12GB of RAM—marking the end of 8GB configurations. This is the only RAM capacity available for any S25 model. It comes with 128GB of storage as the base option, with 256GB and 512GB variants also available.
For improved performance, the S25 series includes 40% larger vapor chambers and a “tailored thermal interface material” to enhance cooling.
The S25 and S25+ maintain the same screen sizes as last year. The smaller model has a 6.2″ display, while the larger one features a 6.7″ display. Samsung made both phones 0.4mm thinner and slightly lighter. The height and width remain unchanged, and the battery capacity is not sacrificed.
The S25+ features a 1440p+ display, while the S25 has a 1080p+ screen. Both are LTPO OLED panels with a 1-120Hz refresh rate. The S25+ also includes a larger 4,900mAh battery, compared to the 4,000mAh battery in the S25. Charging speeds remain the same as previous models. The S25+ supports 45W wired charging (65% in 30 minutes), while the S25 supports 25W (50% in 30 minutes). Wireless charging is supported at 15W, but there’s no Qi2.
Camera upgrades focus on the ProVisual Engine, with the same 50MP main, 10MP 3x telephoto, and 12MP ultrawide cameras from previous models. The 12MP selfie camera remains the same. New features include 10-bit HDR video recording by default, improved noise reduction for nighttime videos, and the Audio Eraser to remove unwanted noise from your footage.
For still photography, Expert RAW introduces a Virtual Aperture for controlling depth of field, and Portrait Studio has been enhanced for more lifelike facial expressions.
The S25 series is built with Armor Aluminum frames containing recycled material, and the batteries include at least 50% recycled cobalt. Both phones are IP68-rated for water and dust resistance.
The devices feature 5G (including mmWave), Wi-Fi 7, and Bluetooth 5.4, but no UWB. The S25 series runs One UI 7 and will receive software updates for 7 years. Enhanced security comes with post-quantum cryptography.
The Personal Data Engine powers on-device AI, and the Now Bar on the lockscreen offers context-aware suggestions. Additional features include Gemini, Circle to Search, Call Transcript, Write Assist, and Drawing Assist.
The S25 and S25+ will be available in Navy, Silver Shadow, Icyblue, and Mint at launch, with exclusive colors on Samsung.com: Blue Black, Coral Red, and Pink Gold. Pre-orders are coming soon.
