HMD Global, the home of Nokia phones, today announces the newest member of the G-series family, the Nokia G21. Challenging affordable smartphones, it comes with impressive three-day battery life and 50% better display refresh for an extra smooth experience.
Unrivalled protection for mobile technology that lasts for longer
Three years of monthly security updates and offering more updates than most smartphones in this price range means the Nokia G21 will work seamlessly in the background to protect users, so they can go about the day worry-free.
Introducing Mask mode to affordable smartphones – available for the first time on the Nokia G21 ensures the convenience of face unlock is never disrupted – keeping user data safe with or without a protective face mask. The device is also ready for Android 12TM, so users may always have access to the latest features and have a smartphone that can be kept for longer. Supported by industry-leading partners for best-in-class experiences, the Nokia G21 comes pre-loaded with Spotify and ExpressVPN. Spotify will give Nokia smartphone owners access to 70 million tracks and 3.2 million podcasts out of the box. For enhanced privacy and added peace of mind, ExpressVPN will be available on all new Nokia smartphones with a 30-day free trial.
A smartphone that gives users the freedom to do more
Channelling the Nokia feature phone legacy to the world of smartphones, the Nokia G21 makes battery life, a common pain point for consumers, a thing of the past. With unmatched three-day battery life, users can go on a full weekend getaway without a charger. Fans can turn on the all-new bespoke Super Battery Saver mode to make the phone last even longer – available exclusively on selected Nokia phones. Users can even choose where exactly the energy savings are made, so they can still access key features that are needed. The Nokia G21 allows this feature to be switched on at 20%, rather than waiting until the battery dips down to 10%, as per the standard Android solution, enabling users to prolong it even further. When the time to fuel up arrives, 18W fast charging ensures users won’t have to wait long to get going again.
Fast response for increased productivity and immersive entertainment
Unlocking the power of 90Hz for the first time in G-series, the improved refresh rate makes scrolling and typing even more fluid, and photos look smoother. From reading the news to drafting emails, the improved response to touch brings an even more seamless experience. For the first time, users can now stream Netflix in HD making for optimum streaming of all the fan favourite movies and TV shows on the go on the Nokia G21.
Delivering beautiful detail even in low light, the Nokia G21 has 50MP triple-lens camera that fully equips anyone to create professional-looking photography. On the front is the AI smarts to ensure that evening selfies will have just the right amount of light and clarity.
New design, same Finnish durability
Introducing an all-new design, the Nokia G21 is thinner and more ergonomic. Made from a tough polycarbonate, the new design honours the durability and Nordic excellence one can expect from a Nokia phone whilst bringing a refreshed look to the range. For extra peace of mind, the Nokia G21 Clear Case will show off the phone’s beauty. It is made from 100% recycled materials and can also be recycled after use.

Vivo T1 5G: Unboxing and First Impressions
Is the Vivo T1 5G the right phone for you? Let’s take a quick look at our first impressions.
Vivo’s new T-series smartphones are directly aimed at Gen Z. Such shoppers, according to Vivo, seek well-designed items with good features for the price. The Vivo T1 5G is the first smartphone in this new series that offers a sleek new style. It also has a massive 64-megapixel triple camera setup, a 90Hz refresh rate display, and is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 778 5G chipset.
So, is the Vivo T1 5G the right phone for you? Let’s take a quick look at our first impressions.
First, let’s look at the box. The phone arrives with a charger and a decent back case in a package. This ensures you won’t have to shell out extra cash for a phone case. The Vivo T15G is available in two colors: Turbo Black and Turbo Cyan.
It’s a fairly standard unboxing experience when you first open the Vivo T1 5G. There’s a cardboard box with the silicone casing and a user guide. The charging brick, charging cord, and SIM ejector tool are all located beneath the device.
Design and Build
The Vivo T1 5G comes with a 6.58-inch full-HD+ IPS LCD display with a 90Hz refresh rate. The phone weighs 187g and is 8.25mm thick. It also has a dewdrop notch on top with a 16-megapixel camera, a hefty chin on the bottom, and narrow bezels on both sides of the screen. Interestingly, the camera island on the phone is reminiscent of the triple camera design on the Huawei P50.
The Vivo T1 5G has a plastic body, but it looks attractive with a gleaming black finish. The phone’s smooth matte back texture and curved corners make it easy to handle.
Under the hood
The Qualcomm Snapdragon 778 5G, Qualcomm’s mid-range chipset with integrated 5G and designed for mobile gaming, powers the Vivo T1 5G. Vivo has also included a virtual RAM function that allows you to use a portion of the phone’s storage as extra RAM. Depending on the model, this can range from 1GB to 4GB.
The Vivo T1 5G should be able to play Call of Duty Mobile or Genshin Impact in high settings. However, we will still have to park this one as we fully test the phone in our full review.
So far, the phone feels smooth and fluid as I navigate the UI and switch between apps. I appreciate how FunTouch OS 12 is implemented here because it appears more like the stock Android UI. It’s a lot easier to use and much cleaner.
On the back, the phone has a triple camera configuration with a 64-megapixel primary camera, an 8-megapixel ultra-wide camera, and a 2-megapixel macro lens. A 16-megapixel front camera is available for selfies.
In our initial shots, the 64-megapixel primary camera takes photos in daylight with ease. It captures fine details and has a decent dynamic range. We also tried taking shots at night, and we are pleased with the photos it produced. The f/1.79 aperture delivers plenty of details and, combined with its Super Night Mode feature, denoises photos while adding more light to nighttime shots.
Here are some shots were taken by the Vivo T1 5G:
Vivo attempted to improve performance by including a high-refresh-rate display, additional cameras, and a large battery. As a result, the Vivo T1 5G is an all-around mid-range smartphone designed for Gen Z and gamers.
However, the Vivo T1 may have been superior in some areas if it had opted for a punch-hole display and a 120hz refresh rate. So, should you go with the Vivo T1 5G or one of the other alternatives? We’ll get to that in our full review, which will be out soon.

Meet the Masters
New York-based photographer Michael Halsbandwas determined that he wanted to become a photographer at the very young age of 10. Many years and thousands of photographs later, he has already made his mark in the photography scene as the former exclusive photographer of The Rolling Stones, AC/DC, and Andy Warhol, among many prominent bands and celebrities.
His works are exhibited and archived by major art museums such as the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York, the Victoria and Albert (V&A) Museum in London, and The Andy Warhol Museum in Pennsylvania. For the vivo Imaging Academy series, Michael will be sharing his insights about Portrait Photography: Journey to understand what defines to be an iconic image.
Peter Van Agtmael

Heavily influenced by his Yale history degree and the 911 attacks, his works usually reflect images of conflicts, history, nationalism, militarism, and social classes. He works with the New York Times and his works are archived by the International Center of Photography, Houston Museum of Fine Arts, Deutsche Bank, and Yale University Art Gallery.
Because of his extensive work especially on the US wars in Israel and Palestine, Peter has been recognized by the W. For the vivo Imaging Academy series, Peter will be talking about Documentary Photography: Finding the beauty in the ordinary.
Michael and Peter will also be joined by other renowned photographers who are also experts in their respective fields. Among them is an artist and photojournalist Issa Barte. In 2021, she was recognized as one of NatGeo’s 25 Young Explorers and Changemakers around the globe. Issa will be sharing her story and some expert tips through her episode Nature Photography: empowering change through photography.
ZEISS Ambassador E-Jay Zhang specializes in urban architecture, night scenes, and night portrait photography. All the way from China, E-Jhay will be spearheading the episode Night Shot: Capture Amazing City Landscape at Night. To complete the list of masters and experts is Raul Romo, a self-taught freelance photographer based in Los Angeles, California. He specializes in portraiture and fashion photography.
His works include magazine cover shoots for popular celebrities like Lady Gaga, Camila Cabello, and Ashanti. For the vivo Imaging Academy master class series, Raul will be talking about Commercial Photography: Leverage lights and colors for stylish portraits.
