Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has shared early insights into the upcoming Apple M5 chip lineup, which is set to begin production in 2025. These new chips are expected to bring a substantial boost in both performance and efficiency, marking a major leap forward in Apple’s chip technology.

The Apple M5 series will be crafted using TSMC’s advanced N3P (3nm) process, which promises to reduce power consumption by 5-10% and deliver about 5% better performance compared to the M4 generation.

Pro, Max, and Ultra Variants to Offer Advanced Features

The M5 Pro, Max, and Ultra variants are expected to feature a “server-grade” System-on-Integrated-Chip molding-Horizontal (SoIC-mH) design, which could enhance their performance and efficiency for more demanding tasks.

This design uses up to 50% less space than traditional SoC layouts, which helps improve thermal performance and reduces the likelihood of throttling during heavy tasks.

There are also rumors that Apple plans to separate the CPU and GPU designs in the M5 series, which could lead to significant performance gains, particularly for AI-driven tasks.
