Apple has officially revealed the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max, featuring “Apple Intelligence at their core.” The iPhone 16 Pro comes with a fresh design, larger screens, and a host of new features.
The Apple’s new iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max come with impressive new features. The iPhone 16 Pro features a 6.3-inch display, while the Pro Max offers a 6.9-inch screen, both with Apple’s thinnest bezels to date. The Pro Max also claims the “best iPhone battery life ever.” Both models are available in four colors: Black Titanium, White Titanium, Desert Titanium, and Natural Titanium.
The new iPhones feature the A18 Pro chip with 3nm transistors and a 16-core neural engine. The A18 Pro chip is faster and more efficient, with 17% more memory bandwidth, 15% faster Apple Intelligence, a 20% faster GPU with double ray tracing speed, and a 6-core CPU that’s 15% faster and 20% more power-efficient.
It also includes next-gen ML accelerators. The iPhone 16 Pro series supports faster USB 3 speeds, ProRes recording, and double the video encoding speed of the A17 Pro.
The iPhone 16 Pro introduces a range of groundbreaking camera updates. The new 48MP Fusion Camera has a second-generation quad-pixel sensor, delivering zero shutter lag for 48MP ProRaw and HEIF photos. It includes a 24 mm focal length, 2.44 quad-pixel, 100% Focus Pixels, and an f/1.78 aperture. The camera includes a 2x telephoto zoom at 48 mm, anti-reflective lens coating, and second-generation sensor-shift OIS.
The iPhone 16 Pro has a new 48MP Ultra-Wide Camera with a 13 mm focal length, 1.4 quad-pixel, f/2.2 aperture, and autofocus. Both the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max include a 5x telephoto camera for enhanced zoom capabilities.
The iPhone 16 Pro records 4K at 120 fps and allows playback speed adjustments.
iPhone 16 Pro also offers four studio-quality mics for higher-quality audio recording. There’s also spatial audio capture for iPhone 16 Pro. There’s also a new Audio Mix feature for iPhone 16 Pro. Greg Joswiak explains:
This is an industry first and it’s powered by advanced intelligence. Audio mix uses machine learning to identify and separate background elements from speech and let you choose from three voice options. Say people off-camera are talking during the capture, the in-frame mix isolates the voice of the person on camera, so you don’t lose that perfect take. Studio mix gives the effect of a recording in a professional studio, complete with sound dampening walls, effectively eliminating reverb. Cinematic Mix handles voices like movies with the vocal track position in the front.
The iPhone 16 Pro starts at $999 (about PHP 55,000) for 128GB, while the Pro Max starts at $1,199 (about PHP 66,000) for 256GB. Pre-orders begin on Friday, September 13, with availability starting on Friday, September 20 in the US.
