The new Geely Coolray and Emgrand were launched today, marking a fresh start under the brand’s new local management. Despite facing challenges in the Philippines, including a period of silence, Geely has returned with its two top-selling models, now reintroduced to the market. Let’s take a closer look at the updates on these models.
2025 Geely Coolray
The 2025 Coolray now rides on the BMA Global New Generation Modular Architecture. Geely’s 500+ engineers and four years of R&D have shaped the design we see today. While it closely resembles the previous model, the Coolray introduces a fresh look.
The two-tone color scheme remains, complemented by new Energy Matrix LED headlights and a redesigned upper grille. The front fascia is highlighted by a large “air inlet grill,” while the rear sports a redesigned spoiler, full-width taillights with a lightbar, and dual exhausts. High-end variants feature 18” Tomahawk-style alloy wheels, adding a sporty touch.

Inside, the Coolray retains its red-black color scheme, but the seats now offer better ergonomics. New features include a 10.25” digital gauge cluster and a larger 12.3” infotainment screen. Other upgrades include a wireless charging pad, automatic climate control, rear air vents, a powered tailgate, and Automatic Parking Assist.
Safety features include blind spot monitoring, an adaptive parking brake, 12 parking sensors, a 4-way DVR recorder, and a 540-degree all-around display, which adds an underside view to the traditional 360-degree camera.
Powering the Coolray is the 1.5TD NordThor engine, delivering 172 HP and 290 Nm of torque, paired with a 7-speed DCT. It accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 7.6 seconds and boasts a fuel efficiency of up to 17.25 km/L.
Pricing starts at PHP 1,139,000 for the base Comfort Plus variant. The full price list is as follows:
- Sport Plus (LG) – PHP 1,329,000
- Sport Plus – PHP 1,299,000

2025 Geely Emgrand
The Emgrand also makes its return with a refreshed design, focusing on Geely’s “Aesthetics of Light and Shadow.” The front features the Energy String grille, flanked by LED headlights. The sedan’s width has increased to 1.822m, and it’s now 72mm lower than before. Notable exterior elements include 17” alloy wheels, a “Golden Section Waistline,” and a full-width Rhythmic Taillight.
Inside, the Emgrand continues the Through-Type design, with 85% of the interior materials now soft-touch. It comes equipped with a 12.3” digital gauge cluster and a 12.3” infotainment screen, along with a unique leather-wrapped steering wheel and “Light Luxury Zero Pressure” seats.
Tech features include keyless entry, auto-open trunk, cruise control, rear aircon vents, and safety features that reduce blind spots and enhance visibility. It also boasts an impressive 100-0 km/h braking distance of just 37.5m.
Under the hood, the Emgrand features a new 1.5-liter engine, offering 121 HP and 152 Nm of torque, with both manual and automatic transmission options.
The Emgrand Luxury is priced at PHP 949,000, with a PHP 40,000 discount available.
Geely’s Comeback
With the reintroduction of these two models, Geely is focused on reclaiming its place in the Philippine market. They’ve had their challenges over the past year, but with the Coolray and Emgrand now on sale and the recent reveal of their first EV, the EX5, Geely seems poised to make a strong comeback. Will these updated models help Geely regain its former success in the market? Time will tell.
