In a video it unveiled on its YouTube channel today, TECNO has borne its own tri-fold smartphone concept in the TECNO Phantom Ultimate 2.
The Phantom Ultimate 2 is designed to transform the large-screen experience with its compact form factor. Moreover, it features a 10-inch display when fully unfolded, enhancing both usability and viewing quality. This tablet-like 3K LTPO display offers a 4:3 aspect ratio and a sharp 392 PPI pixel density.
What sets it apart is its OLED Touch and TDDI technology, marking a first in foldable devices. This concept hints at a future where foldable smartphones are more immersive, convenient, and exciting than ever.
Versatile Scenarios
The Phantom Ultimate 2’s unique tri-fold design opens up a range of possibilities for work, entertainment, and everyday use. You can fold one-third of the phone at a 90-degree angle to use it as a keyboard, with the middle third serving as a laptop-style display and the final third for multi-screen functions.
In tent mode, the phone allows for dual-screen face-to-face real-time AI translation. The tri-fold design also supports creative angles for various tasks. According to TECNO’s images, the Phantom Ultimate 2 will likely include stylus support.
TECNO plans to enhance the user experience with advanced software and a UI tailored for the tri-fold design. This includes dynamic wallpapers and adaptive icons that adjust as you fold and unfold the phone.
The launch of this concept aligns with TECNO’s upcoming release of its second-generation foldables, the Phantom V Fold2 5G and Phantom V Flip2 5G.
New Phase?
If you haven’t noticed, we’re now deep into the phase of AI smartphones, with book-style and flip foldables becoming quite common in recent years.
TECNO’s latest reveal suggests that foldable smartphones are heading in an exciting new direction. Recently, Huawei’s chairman, Richard Yu, was spotted with what looks like a tri-fold smartphone. It seems like the race is on to see which company will be the first to officially release a tri-fold foldable.
