Qualcomm just launched the Snapdragon 6 Gen 3, promising major improvements and upgrades for mid-range smartphones.
First up, the new chip introduces a Kryo CPU that features 4 performance cores running up to 2.4GHz and 4 efficiency cores at 1.8GHz. As a result, it delivers a 10% boost in CPU performance compared to its predecessor.
Next, the Adreno GPU gets an upgrade, offering 30% better graphics performance, which should make for smoother gaming and improved HDR content.
Additionally, the Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 enhances AI capabilities by offering over 20% more efficiency. Consequently, it supports advanced features such as AI-based noise cancellation and activity tracking through the Qualcomm Sensing Hub.
For the camera, the Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 now supports up to 200 MP photo capture and 4K HDR video at 30 FPS, along with an AI De-Noising feature for clearer, better low-light photos.
In terms of connectivity, the Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 not only includes 5G support for both mmWave and sub-6 GHz bands but also features Wi-Fi 6E. As a result, it offers peak speeds of up to 2.9 Gbps.
Audio gets a boost with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Sound Technology Suite, featuring aptX Voice and aptX Lossless for improved sound quality.
Built on a 4nm process, the Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 is designed to bring solid performance and efficiency to mid-range devices. With these specs, mid-range phones are about to get a lot more capable and versatile.
