Today, OnePlus officially announced the next version of its Android skin: OxygenOS 15, built on the recently released Android 15 from Google. The first open beta will be available for the OnePlus 12 on October 30, with the stable version expected to roll out by the end of November.
OnePlus describes OxygenOS 15 as a significant upgrade, emphasizing improvements in speed, design, and AI integration. With refined animation interactions thanks to Parallel Processing, users can expect a smoother experience even during heavy multitasking.
OxygenOS 15 on the OnePlus 13 will use 20% less storage than OxygenOS 14 on the OnePlus 12.
Now, let’s address the big buzzword: AI. OnePlus’s AI Detail Boost claims to turn low-res or cropped images into 4K visuals in seconds. That’s a bold promise! This feature is integrated into the built-in photo album, making it easy to enhance your photos.
AI Unblur does just what you’d expect, while AI Reflection Eraser removes glass reflections from your photos. The smart sidebar features an AI Toolbox, including AI Reply for context-aware responses based on your conversations.
Intelligent Search enhances on-device searching, and OxygenOS 15 introduces Circle to Search, replacing Google Assistant with Gemini on the OnePlus 13. Pass Scan quickly handles paper and digital boarding passes. AI Notes can format, expand, or condense content and adjust formality, all using voice commands.
The new software brings a fresh boot animation, updated icons, more shelf card options, and additional fingerprint unlocking styles. OnePlus has added “comprehensive Shimmering Effects” and “Gaussian Blur” throughout the system for a smoother visual experience. OnePlus streamlined the Settings menu, notification bar, and control center.
You can now easily share files with iPhones using the new Share with iPhone feature. Plus, OxygenOS 15 includes the theft protection features that Google announced earlier.
