Gong Yoo and Seo Hyun-jin take the lead in Netflix‘s upcoming Korean drama The Trunk, directed by acclaimed TV veteran Kim Kyu-tae in his streaming platform debut.
Based on Kim Ryeo-ryeong’s novel, the series follows two people in a one-year marriage contract tied to a mysterious trunk.
Seo Hyun-jin plays Noh In-ji, a dedicated employee at a unique marriage service company. The company offers personalized spouse services in a world where divorce and singlehood are common.
In-ji enters a contract marriage with Han Jeong-won, a music producer and wealthy heir tormented by his past.
Jeong-won expects a docile, agreeable partner tailored to his preferences but feels surprised by In-ji’s unexpected personality. Meanwhile, In-ji discovers a shocking twist—the person who arranged her marriage to Jeong-won is none other than his ex-wife, Lee Seo-yeon, portrayed by Jung Yun-ha.
“Who knows? “We might be destined to be together,” Jeong-won says in the trailer, hinting at the series’ mysterious, emotional tone.
Gong Yoo, born Gong Ji-cheol, is famed for Squid Game, Train to Busan, and Guardian: The Lonely and Great God.
Seo Hyun-jin debuted in 2001 with the K-pop group M.I.L.K., which disbanded in 2003. She briefly pursued a solo music career before transitioning to acting in 2006. Her notable roles include Why Her, You Are My Spring, Dr. Romantic, and The Beauty Inside.
Director Kim Kyu-tae, known for his dramas like Hotel del Luna and Our Blues, brings his expertise to The Trunk.
