With the Snapdragon 8 Elite now official, brands are quickly lining up to announce their next flagship phones. ASUS has joined the excitement, revealing that the ROG Phone 9 series will debut on November 19. ASUS will unveil both the ROG Phone 9 and 9 Pro at a dedicated event starting at 12PM CET (6AM ET / 7PM Taipei).
The company has shared official renders of the ROG Phone 9, and it looks very similar to the ROG Phone 8 series. It features the same offset, pentagon-shaped camera island with three sensors, and the signature gamer aesthetic on the back, complete with ROG branding and LED lights. Up front, there’s a flat display with a punch-hole cut out for the selfie camera. On the right-hand side, you’ll find the pressure-sensitive AirTriggers, also marked with ROG branding.
The ROG Phone 9 uses the Snapdragon 8 Elite’s second-generation Qualcomm Oryon CPU and Qualcomm Adreno GPU, aiming to deliver an immersive, lag-free gaming experience.
This Oryon CPU has been the focus of much fanfare thanks to its two performance cores clocked at 4.32GHz – apparently the fastest mobile CPU cores on the market.
ASUS is teasing some new AI features with its “AI on, game on” tagline, though they haven’t shared any specific details yet. We’ll likely get more clues as the launch date approaches, and we’ll keep you updated as soon as we learn more.
And while Asus are promising the “smoothest gaming experience with immersive features”, we’ve yet to see any performance benchmarks beyond the general specifications of the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset.
