It’s typical for Apple to release new iOS versions in September alongside the latest iPhones. However, Apple usually waits until October for major macOS updates. This year, though, it looks like macOS Sequoia might be launched alongside iOS 18 in September.
macOS Sequoia coming next month
According to MacRumors, sources say macOS Sequoia will be released in mid-September alongside iOS 18, tvOS 18, and watchOS 11. The timing aims to boost cross-platform features like iPhone Mirroring, which lets you control your iPhone screen from a Mac. New Sequoia will also introduce a new Passwords app that syncs with the same app on iOS 18 and iPadOS 18.
Apple usually releases new OS versions in October or November with new Macs. However, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman reports that Apple is fast-tracking iOS 18.0 to focus on iOS 18.1 with Apple Intelligence. Gurman mentioned that iOS 18.0 development is complete with the release of beta 7.
It’s important to note that new operating system will not include Apple Intelligence features, which are now expected in macOS 15.1.
Apple is also expected to hold a special event in September to unveil the iPhone 16, Apple Watch Series 10, AirPods 4, and their latest software updates.
