Apple AirPods will gain a new live translation feature with the release of iOS 19, transforming the way users communicate across language barriers. This new functionality, which will be available to AirPods users once they update their devices to iOS 19, allows real-time translations directly through the earbuds, making conversations with foreign speakers much easier. The feature, which will work in conjunction with the iPhone, enables users to speak in their native language, and the translation will be played aloud through the iPhone’s speakers for the other person to hear.

iOS 19

According to a report from Bloomberg, this update is designed to improve communication for users in multilingual environments, offering a smooth, seamless translation experience. The feature will be available through the Translate app, which currently supports 19 languages, and it aims to compete with similar functionalities already offered by other tech companies, such as Google and Samsung, in their respective earbuds.

While the exact AirPods models that will support the live translation feature have not been confirmed, it is expected that newer AirPods models, including the AirPods Pro, will be compatible. Additionally, Apple is reportedly working on a new third-generation AirPods Pro, which may include built-in cameras and advanced Apple Intelligence for environmental analysis. This would further enhance the translation feature, allowing the earbuds to better understand the user’s surroundings.

This live translation feature represents a significant step forward in Apple’s continued push to integrate more accessible and innovative technology into its products. It also aligns with the growing trend of major tech companies adding language translation capabilities to their devices, making cross-language communication more accessible for global users. This update highlights Apple’s commitment to enhancing user experience and promoting seamless communication across languages.
