Japanese peripherals manufacturer Elecom has proudly become the first company to receive certification for its USB4 2.0 cables. This year, Elecom has introduced two standout models of USB Type-C cables.
These new USB cables feature impressive capabilities: one offers a lightning-fast 80Gbps transfer speed and supports 60W of power delivery, while the other matches the same transfer speed but bumps up the power delivery to an impressive 240W. Both cables are set to launch in mid-December this year.
For those interested, USB4 2.0 is the next generation of USB4, which you’ll find on modern motherboards, gaming handhelds, mini-PCs, and more. While USB4 delivers speeds up to 40Gbps, USB4 2.0 doubles that to an impressive 80Gbps.
This faster power delivery opens up opportunities for smaller power adapters to power gaming laptops, making them more efficient. Additionally, the new USB4 ports support DisplayPort, allowing for stunning 8K displays at 60Hz.
As of now, Microsoft has started testing the new USB4 in their Windows 11 Insider Preview Build. Although USB4 2.0 was initially introduced in 2022, this year marks a significant step forward in its integration into modern hardware.
