DJI has introduced the latest addition to its wireless Lavalier mic series—the Mic Mini. Smaller than the original Mic and Mic 2 models, the Mic Mini offers new features and improved battery life, making it a compact and powerful option for smartphones and cameras. (And no, it’s not the Mac mini!)
DJI Mic Mini
The Mic Mini set comes with two wireless transmitters that can be easily attached to your clothing using either a magnetic or clip-on attachment. Designed to be small, light, and discreet, it won’t draw unnecessary attention. The set also includes windscreens, perfect for use in windy conditions.
The wireless receiver connects to cameras, smartphones, tablets, and computers via USB-C or 3.5mm TRS. When plugged into a smartphone, it can charge both the transmitter and the phone simultaneously.
The transmitters can pair via Bluetooth with smartphones or tablets or connect directly to select DJI Osmo devices without the receiver.
The Mic Mini features a two-level noise-canceling system: “Basic” for quieter indoor environments, like with fans or air conditioners, and “Strong” for outdoor recordings. It also has an automatic limiting feature that lowers the volume to prevent clipping. Plus, it can record a safety track at 6dB quieter than the main track, which you can use if the main recording gets too loud or distorted.
The receiver can pair with two transmitters at once, allowing you to record two separate tracks or combine them into a single track in either mono or stereo mode. It also features a dial for a 5-step gain adjustment to fine-tune your sound.
The standard kit comes with a charging case that can power up the two transmitters and the receiver up to 3.6 times, providing a total of 48 hours of use. Each transmitter offers 11.5 hours of battery life, while the receiver lasts 10.5 hours. If you’re in a pinch, just a 5-minute charge gives you about an hour of use for both.
Price & Availability
The standard kit is priced at $169 (~ PHP 9,400), while you can opt for the base kit with just one transmitter and one receiver for $89 (~ PHP 4,900). If you need extra transmitters, they’re available for $59 each (~ PHP 3,300), and for those with devices that use a Lightning connector, a Lightning adapter is available for $19 (~ PHP 1,000).
The DJI Mic Mini is available starting today on the DJI website and other retailers.
