On September 9, Apple unveiled the latest AirPods Pro 2, featuring a groundbreaking hearing aid function designed to assist those with hearing loss. Just this Thursday, the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved the device, giving Apple the green light to launch it to the public.
The AirPods Pro 2 now includes a hearing protection mode to help users shield their hearing from loud environments and noise. Additionally, second-gen AirPods Pro owners can use the Hearing Test feature through Apple’s Health app.
This built-in hearing aid function aims to reduce stigma and offer a more affordable option, priced at $249 (PHP 13K). Apple submitted its application for this feature under the De Novo Classification, and the review process officially cleared the AirPods Pro 2 for market release.
