Acer Philippines continues its reign as the undisputed leader in the country’s personal computer market. According to the latest data from market research firm GfK, Acer captured the top spot in the first quarter of 2025 with an impressive 35.7% total market share. In fact, this dominance extends across key segments, reinforcing the brand’s strong position with Filipino consumers.
Dominating the Numbers
A closer look at the data reveals the depth of Acer’s market leadership. The brand secured a 34.2% share in consumer notebooks and an astounding 40.6% share in the highly competitive gaming laptop category. Furthermore, Acer delivered a strong performance in April, with its notebook segment reaching a 36% market share, cementing its command over the industry.
So, what’s the secret to this sustained success? Ultimately, Acer credits its achievements to a multi-faceted marketing approach, with strategic partnerships playing a crucial role in its growth. This method has proven highly effective in expanding Acer’s nationwide reach and strengthening its local branding efforts.
The SB19 Effect: A Partnership That Works
A prime example of this strategy is Acer’s celebrated partnership with the “Kings of P-pop,” SB19. This collaboration has been instrumental in keeping Acer Philippines relevant and connected to its customer base, especially among the younger demographic. The partnership is a long-standing one, beginning even before their official ambassadorship for Acer Day in 2021.
“Our partnership with SB19 works because we share the same values and energy,” said Sue Ong-Lim, Managing Director at Acer Philippines. “Also, the group’s strong social media presence and its ability to create engaging content have allowed us to reach and connect with our customers.”
Beyond Endorsements: A Deeper Connection
This collaboration goes far beyond simple endorsements. For instance, Acer recently co-presented SB19’s “Simula at Wakas” world tour stop in Taiwan, further strengthening the brand’s connection with the group’s massive fanbase, known as A’TIN. During the trip, SB19 also visited Acer’s Taipei headquarters as “one-day employees” to experience the brand’s latest innovations firsthand.
Acer Chairman and CEO Jason Chen, along with Pan-Asia Pacific President Andrew Hou, personally met with the group. As a testament to the strong relationship, they gifted each member a powerful Predator Helios 18 gaming laptop. While touring Acer’s product experience center, the group also tried out the FreeSense Ring smart wearable and participated in a design workshop to brainstorm ideas for future products.
As this successful partnership marks its fifth year, both Acer Philippines and SB19 look forward to more fruitful and productive years together, proving that the right collaboration can lead to undisputed market leadership.
